A funicular railway runs from a base station at 637 metres up to the Ptarmigan Centre which is situated at 1097 metres, just 50 metres from the summit of Cairn Gorm. From here the views are simply incredible. If you can’t stand the dizzy heights then why not take a trip on The Strathspey Railway which runs between Aviemore, Boat-of-Garten and Broomhill.
The Cairngorms are also very popular for hill walking, mountain biking, cycling, bird watching, climbing, deer stalking, gliding, fly fishing and pony trekking. There are many trails in the local forests and tracks on the surrounding hills, as well as the purpose-built Wolftrax MTB trails in nearby Laggan.
